Xiamen not only has 139 cultural and historical preservation sites but also 533 protected ancient or famous trees. The city also has 18 historical temples and churches, as well as 17 museums - including Asia's largest piano museum, an organ museum that will soon be the world's largest, China's only bridge museum, China's first anthropology museum, a postal museum, a military museum, a Sino-European art museum, a meteorological exhibit, memorials to famous folk like Koxinga, Lu Xun and Lin Yutang, etc. And Gulangyu Islet itself is a world-class open-air museum of international architecture, with hundreds of buildings designed almost a century ago by architects from all over the world.
